The initial building greeting guests upon arrival is The Yellow Barn, an 8,000+ square-foot converted post-and-beam barn sitting atop a massive granite fieldstone foundation. This building was meticulously transformed from a barn into a contemporary space with lofty cathedral ceilings and engaging architectural details. Steps lead up from the parking lot to a guest greeting parlor and the six premium suite-style rooms on the first and second floors. In addition to these stylish suites, the building offers inviting central sitting areas on each floor. Stairs down to the garden level lead to a stately dining room with exposed stone walls and sturdy pillars, capable of seating up to 79 guests at tables and 169 guests in chairs only.

 

The dining room is currently used primarily for breakfast service and seating for small to medium-sized events of up to 75 guests. The dining room is serviced by the spacious and fully commercial kitchen featuring all of the equipment needed to service large events, dinner service or off-site catering. The dining area offers a gorgeous stone gas fireplace, elegant serving bar, dedicated restrooms and a temperature-controlled wine and liquor storage area. The dining room is lined on the west-side with sets of French doors. These doors lead to additional patio seating for alfresco dining in the gorgeous central garden during the warmer months. A tremendous guest feature of The Yellow Barn is a two-level deck that provides private entrances and dedicated outdoor furniture for all six suites to enjoy elevated views of the exquisite garden, lawn and woods beyond.

The 1807 House exudes a sense of authenticity with original wide plank floors, meticulously crafted wall panels, cabinets adorned with iron hinges, cozy wood-burning fireplaces, and historic ceiling beams. This building houses four additional guest rooms, three rooms and one guest suite of a more historic nature. The common areas include an intimate dining room, keeping room, parlor and library alcove. This house provides an ideal opportunity for small groups traveling together to turn four rented rooms into a fully private experience, making it ideal for adult families or intimate wedding parties at the inn. This building has several doors separating the guest areas to the spacious owner’s quarters.

The owners quarters offers two private entrances with over 1000 ft.² of living space across two floors with two bedrooms, 1 ½ baths, an office and a full kitchen. The 1807 House is surrounded by well-maintained gardens and inviting lawn areas along with a large bluestone patio with firepit for guest use, that could easily be cordoned off for dedicated owner access. All 10 guest rooms and suites across both buildings offer sumptuous king or queen beds in elegant antique frames, private baths, high speed wi-fi, luxury bath amenities, A/C and come well-appointed with elegant furniture and decor. The Georgian Colonial 1807 House, originally known as “The Shubel Smith House” named after a sea captain, is named on the National Register of Historic Places. A state of the art high efficiency oil boiler was just installed in January 2025.

Turning off Pumpkin Hill Road, overnight lodging guests and special event attendees leisurely amble up the driveway, past a row of stately light posts bordering the broad front lawn flanked by groomed seasonal garden beds. The primary parking lot allows parking for over 30 vehicles and features a recently installed electric vehicle charging station, while overflow parking is also available in a gravel lot behind the 1807 House and on the front lawn for larger events.

The front area also features a 26’ x 30’ ft. cedar utility/storage barn and formidable stone walls along the large horseshoe driveway offering dedicated entrance and exits for event and overnight guests. Behind the 1807 House is a large open grassy field, approximately 250’ x 50’ feet bordered by stone walls and gates and dotted with grand trees and foliage. This area provides the opportunity for several different set-ups with a gorgeous country backdrop for weddings of up to 150 guests.

The manicured gardens along the sides and back of The Yellow Barn feature a stunning landscape of flowers, native plants and trees amidst twinkling lights, a two-level cascading koi pond and numerous sitting areas for guests to ensconce themselves within the natural surroundings of this country estate. The spacious lawn bordering the back gardens and complemented by a wooden arch is surrounded by trees for an additional location for an intimate country wedding experience. This area leads to staff parking and a back entrance to the Inn kitchen.

The guest rooms in The Yellow Barn at Stonecroft Country Inn are in excellent condition and offer new owners premium amenities including fireplaces, whirlpool tubs and private entrances. Furnishings within guest rooms and common areas are of very high quality and kept in good condition. The property offers a number of inviting spaces for guest use within both buildings and throughout the well manicured grounds and the exteriors of both buildings are in good condition. Regular maintenance is a priority for the current owners and major systems and equipment are in good working condition and serviced regularly.
