The Property

Cape May is famous for its Victorian architecture and is known as the Bed & Breakfast Capital of the World. In a milieu of Victorian B&Bs and Inns, this special Inn is decidedly un-Victorian. A century ago, a captain of industry was inspired to build a Cape May mansion in authentic California Spanish Mission style. The result was an al fresco style home featuring wooden ceiling beams, vaulted ceilings, Spanish-style tile work, and a vast porch and veranda. The owners took the romance of Old California further, hiring artists to create enchanting murals and unique features in every guest bedroom and bathroom, as well as all the common areas. Even the garden walls are works of art!

Behind the craft and artistry are sophisticated mechanical systems including individually controlled heating and cooling for guests, custom-built fireplace enclosures and spa-style bathrooms. The common rooms are exceptionally large and handsomely furnished. The effect is a warm, other-worldly atmosphere, enhanced by the ocean breeze. A spectacular picture window in the dining room captures views to the beach. The veranda, graced by a magnificent pergola, the front porch, and the enclosed garden patio provide abundant outdoor areas for guests to relax. The newly renovated, spacious Inn kitchen is the hub of Innkeeping activity, with ample room for food preparation and storage, access to the laundry center and the reservations desk.

The separate Owners’ residence, a few steps from the Inn, includes a kitchen, dining area, master bedroom and two full bathrooms. The private outside entrance is screened by a garden wall.

Importantly, this century-old building is in absolutely top condition. Maintenance is impeccable and all the behind-the-scenes mechanical systems are up to date.
